WINdows usERS Computer user group

meetings on 3rd Saturday,
The Fountain Valley Branch Library
17635 Los Alamos, Fountain Valley, CA 92708

10:00 am to 12:30 pm

If you are interested in learning more about Windows, a particular program, or even an exchange of ideas or information regarding the computer industry, WINNERS - WINdows usERS  is for you! WINNERS is a great place to see the latest software and also learn how to use it. We provide a easy (and fun) atmosphere for you to see new and interesting programs or hardware. Each month we have demonstrations of how to work with different programs, or hardware. We also have a discussion of computer and software problems (Random Access), and how to solve them. Computer tips are given out each month. You don't have to join right away, come in and see if you like us. We are in Orange County California, right near the San Diego (405) Freeway.

Membership is $20 annually for individuals with $5 for each additional family member.

"User groups represent the spirit of the frontier, a community getting together to do things that no individual ought to have to do alone. The pioneers of the American west got together for barn raisings, cattle roundups, and the occasional party. The pioneers of new technology get together for installfests, new user training and support, and just plain fun. Being part of a user group is the best way to get more out of your computer, and lets you make friends while you're at it." — Tim O'Reilly, President, O'Reilly & Associates

Covering computer forensic evidence

Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor RC

Want to see if your Windows XP-based PC can run Windows Vista? Just download, install, and run the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor RC. This small software tool will scan your computer and create an easy-to-understand report of all known system, device, and program compatibility issues, and recommend ways to resolve them. Upgrade Advisor can also help you choose the edition of Windows Vista that best fits the way you want to use your computer.

Note: This software isn’t final, so the results you get may not be 100% accurate. Make sure you run Upgrade Advisor again in a few months for a more accurate assessment and to get the latest up-to-date information about whether your system is ready for an upgrade. The Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor works with 32-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. It will not work with Windows 98, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.
Information is from the Microsoft website.
