AMD Fusion is a new approach to processor design and software development, delivering powerful CPU and GPU capabilities for HD video, 3D and data-intensive workloads in a single-die processor called an Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). AMD Fusion APUs unleash additional computational horsepower, enabling breakthroughs in visual computing and performance all within thin and light device form factors.
The AMD Fusion Family of APUs is being launched at CES, addressing the value through mainstream segments of the PC market:
AMD Fusion APU-based systems are designed to provide consumers with features they care about most, including stutter-free HD video playback, plenty of computational horsepower to handle the most demanding applications, DirectX®11 capable graphics and long battery life.
1. With AMD Fusion, the AMD Accelerated HD experience era begins. HD video looks crystal clear, the Web is powered like a fast HD Internet application, and manipulating HD content is fast and easy using the AMD VISION Engine. The AMD VISION Engine is the software suite for all AMD Fusion APUs and is based on AMD’s Catalyst™ software suite and an OpenCL™ driver.
2. AMD Personal Supercomputing enables parallel processing like that in supercomputers…but for the consumer. For example, an AMD A-Series APU is designed to deliver more than 500 GFLOPs of processing power - 33 times the processing power of a single CPU just two years ago.
3. AMD AllDay™ Power is a user-centric approach to all day computing enabling PCs to provide a full HD experience or more than 10 hours of battery life.
Tablets and embedded designs based on AMD Fusion APUs are expected be available later in Q1 2011.

Showed their latest generation of motherboards for the new 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processors (aka Sandy Bridge). The new series of motherboards are based on the Intel® P67 and H67 Express Chipsets, and deliver a host of cutting-edge features designed to provide Maximum CPU Power.
Their 6-series motherboards support dual channel DDR3 memory for blazing fast memory performance of 2200MHz and above through the integrated memory controller of 2nd generation Intel® Core™ CPUs. Additionally, these CPUs feature Intel® Turbo Boost 2.0 Technology, which is able to power down idle processor cores and dynamically reroute the power to the active cores for significant performance boosts, and at the same time, maintain greater energy efficiency. Key GIGABYTE technologies featured on these motherboards include an industry-leading 24 phase power design, an Intel® approved Intersil VRD 12 (Voltage Regulator Down) compliant PWM controller, Dual CPU Power, Driver MOSFETs (the new addition to GIGABYTE’s signature Ultra Durable™ 3 features), proprietary DualBIOS™ 3TB+ HDD technology, 10 USB 3.0 ports (total of 18 USB ports with 8 USB 2.0), 3-Way SLI™/CrossFireX™ support, 3x USB Power, On/Off Charge and more.
Launched with ten ATX models and seven Micro-ATX models to choose from. Additional models are planned to launch throughout the first and second quarters, with an estimated 40+ GIGABYTE socket 1155 models available by the middle of 2011.
GIGABYTE 6 series motherboards are designed with Intel’s latest Voltage Regulator Down specification (VRD 12) using Intel® qualified Intersil PWM controllers that offer SerialVID (SVID) for transferring power management information between the processor and voltage regulator controller. This allows more robust and efficient signaling control between the CPU and PWM controller, hence delivering a more energy efficient platform.
Their proprietary Dual CPU Power Technology allows CPU VRM power phases to split evenly into 2 sets of power engines that operate in tandem. This allows 1 set of power phases to rest while the other is active as opposed to a traditional power design where all the power phases are always active.
The MOSFETs and driver IC specification allow higher power transfer and increased efficiency at higher switching frequencies to satisfy the power requirements of modern processors.
DualBIOS™ is a patented technology that automatically recovers BIOS data when the main BIOS has crashed or failed. The Zero Client concept is an evolution of the Thin Client computing model that takes Shared-Resource Computing to the next level. Zero Clients are the modern equivalent of workstation terminals and have no independent hardware processing facilities. Through multiple zero clients, many users can be simultaneously connected to a single server, leveraging the abundant computing power and flexibility provided by today's mainstream systems. In contemporary zero client implementations, the end user experience is often bandwidth dependant since each Zero Client requires video, audio, and data connections. Before the speed and flexibility of USB 3.0, Zero Clients utilized USB 2.0 or Ethernet, and frequently offered inferior multimedia capabilities and a degraded user experience.
